Hi there! I'm a picture book author and illustrator living in Kirkland, WA. My work is inspired by the countless interactions I've had with kids after 20 wonderful years as a classroom teacher and my experience growing up as a biracial army brat. My goal is to make books that amuse, intrigue, and inspire children of all ages. I live with my husband, two kids, and our dog Daisy.

 

I'm the author and illustrator of HOW TO HUG A PUFFERFISH, which won the Washington State Picture Book award in 2023. Look for my upcoming books SANDCASTLES ARE FOREVER (Roaring Brook, Spring 2024) and A GEODUCK IS NOT A DUCK written by Candy Wellins (Little Bigfoot, Spring 2024).

I'm the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion coordinator for the Western Washington chapter of SCBWI, City of Kirkland Library Board member, and on the advisory committee of the Bigfoot Kids' Book Festival.
