About me

Hi there! I'm a picture book author, illustrator, and science educator living in the Seattle area. My work is inspired by my experience teaching STEM, my upbringing as a biracial army brat, and my adventures in parenting.

My books actively encourage children to question HOW they know what they know. When I'm not in the lab, I enjoy experimenting with art supplies in my home studio and visiting other local schools.

I'm the author/illlustrator of the upcoming book HOW TO HUG A PUFFERFISH (Roaring Brook, 2022), as well as the Joulia Copernicus Book Series from Boyds Mills Kane: IT'S A ROUND, ROUND WORLD! and THE REASON FOR THE SEASONS. I'm also the illustrator of BEA'S BEES, written by Katherine Pryor.

I'm the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion coordinator for the Western Washington chapter of SCBWI and a member of The Broadstrokes, an all-female illustration critique group.

I'm represented by Adria Goetz of Martin Literary Management.
